Burning Tips
Did you know that a candle’s have memory?
Before you light your new candle, be sure to trim the wick to one quarter inch. This will keep the flame height at a safe and optimal performance level. If the wick is too long the flame will be too big. This may cause smoke and will make the candle burn rapidly and unevenly. If the wick is too short you may have trouble keeping your candle lit.
To insure a clean and efficient burning cycle for the life of the candle follow these simple instructions:
The first time you light the candle, allow it to burn until the liquid wax covers the entire top of the candle. This initial process insures that it will perform better and more evenly throughout the life of the candle. With subsequent use, the candle should remain burning for a minimum of 3 to 4 hours each time. This will insure a clean and efficient burning cycle for the life of the candle.
To extinguish the flame, dip the wick into the liquid wax, using a non-flammable instrument. This little known technique eliminates smoking
Wicks are designed to produce a small black carbon cap at the top of the wick as it burns. This is normal as it helps radiate heat to the edge of the candle. You should not trim the wick nor touch it while it is hot ! After extinguishing the flame and it has completely cooled, remove carbon deposits or other foreign materials from the liquid wax when possible.
Place the candle in an area free from drafts or this will blow the flame into one direction and cause the candle to burn unevenly. If this occurs, next time you light the candle place a small object under the higher side of the jar where the wax is higher. This will force the flame to melt that area first and then once it equals out return the jar to the normal position. It is like a reverse process. Repeat this practice a few times and the candle will repair itself.
The Art of Candle Fragrance Combining.
This is where you can experiment and choose 2 to 3 different candles fragrances that will compliment each other and burn them in different rooms to create your own combination. Choose a citrus scent and the a vanilla or any other combination. You will be surprised what you can come up with. Your options are endless.
